This clock in Olomouc was severely damaged by the retreating Germans during the end of WWII. It was originally built in the 15th Century as an astronomical clock like the famous one in Prague. This one however was rebuilt in the 50s by the communists who got rid of the clerical figurines and replaced them with proletariat ones. It also rang out for special events such as Lenin's and Stalin's birthdays
